Intelligence is important, I have a decent above average IQ yet I sometimes lack basic common sense it seems, though my late husband was not , as you say, "book smart", he was intelligent and able to build/fix anything (was a much sought after Bricklayer/Mason foreman, and he had great common sense. My late ex however had a much more literal/slapstick/physical comedy enjoying sense of humor and was not a "funny" person. I have a more dry, witty sense of humor and am usually pretty quick to come up with something funny in response to a situation or conversation- others would laugh but he would rarely acknowledge my humor, but if his friend sais something funny he'd laugh; or if there was an "Earnest goes to..." film on he'd actually sit through it and seemingly find it funny whereas I would not.So....yea...humor. I like a guy with self-confidence, but not cocky or self-absorbed, just able to hold head high in general. Like someone who is thoughtful in that they might try to do/say something nice about me once in a while. (hate to say it, but as much as I loved my husband, he stopped that not long after marriage whereas I always tried to do little things for him and thought about him in the rare instance I was not at home. (never once, literally never had a babysitter so I/we could go out; never went anywhere save for his family functions or local zoo when kids were little; so it's been a Long time since I've been out and about. About a year after he died I went to a small venue show with a friend and since then we go out a few times a year to see concerts together, otherwise I'm home.
